The Nelson Doula Collective's signature prenatal education class, designed and taught by Mila Hennings since 2024.

Birth Like a Badass™ is a comprehensive two-day prenatal education experience designed to help you approach birth with confidence, knowledge, and practical tools. Combining evidence-based information with real-world preparation, this class will help you understand your options, make informed decisions, and feel empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Day 1: Preparing for Birth

Topics include:

  • Birth expectations, plans, and preferences

  • Understanding the maternity care system and birth language

  • Informed decision-making using the B.R.A.I.N. tool

  • Pregnancy hormones, body changes, nutrition, and prenatal testing

  • Anatomy and physiology of birth

  • Fetal positioning and the labour process

  • Contractions, cervical changes, mucus plug, and water breaking

  • Labour and birth positions

Day 2: Labour, Birth & Beyond

Topics include:

  • The stages of labour and what to expect

  • Medical and non-medical pain relief options

  • Comfort measures and coping techniques

  • Interventions, inductions, and cesarean birth

  • Newborn procedures and appearance

  • Postpartum recovery and emotional wellbeing

Included Bonus Session

Registration includes a 60-minute prenatal breastfeeding session with Prenatal Lactation Consultant Courtney Nicholl, helping you prepare for a positive and informed feeding journey.
